The ASPC are the only national organisation that represents portfolio GP’s (or GPwSI), Hospital Consultants, Doctors-in-Training, plus other clinicians and administrative staff who provide surgical services in the community, whether that be for the NHS or the private sector.

The ASPC supports any surgical procedure that can be performed using local anaesthetic, focusing mainly on the 3 most common community procedures: Vasectomy, Carpal Tunnel Decompression, and all levels of Skin surgery (from excision of benign skin lesions to the more complex wide local excisions of skin cancers and skin flaps).

We provide support, training, and professional development to our members. We host an annual conference and run an accredited audit programme.

Membership is open to all who have an interest in developing such services; be that in medical, nursing, commissioning or related sectors.

The Association of Surgeons in Primary Care (ASPC) is affiliated with the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland and the PCSA, our sister organisation in the Republic of Ireland.

The ASPC also has links with the Royal College of General Practitioners, the Association of Surgeons in Training and the British Association of day surgery.

The ASPC liases with the Care Quality Commission, Integrated Care Boards and represents members in negotiations affecting the provision of surgery in the community. Our Council includes experts across the spectrum of Community surgery who provide a valuable information resource to all ASPC members.
