Despite women comprising 59% of medical students in the UK, only 16% advance to consultant surgeon roles. This stark disparity highlights the urgent need for change.
Women in Surgery Student Association (WinSSA) aims to establish dedicated Women in Surgery teams across all UK medical schools, starting with a small committee that will work closely with surgical societies to identify and overcome barriers.
